Citres, now one of the leading canning companies in Italy, began life as a small family concern.

If you’ve ever been to Verona...you’ll know what a city that lives on tradition and passion feels like. And if you’d passed through the streets of Verona in 1958, you might have encountered Renzo Compri, with his hands filled with dreams and a small workshop destined to grow into Citres. Along with his family, Renzo was able to imagine the tastes of the future, and succeeded in taking the Veronese food traditions beyond the city. From then on, our journey became a family adventure, a story of innovation and a passion for quality.

“Processing from Fresh” is the method we’re proudest of: using only the freshest seasonal vegetables, processed straight from the field, to ensure they remain crisp and tasty and maintain their nutritional values intact, without subjecting them to any stress. The result? Wholesome, genuine goodness you can really taste.

QUALITY COMES FROM THE SOIL. Our raw materials come from Italy, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, India and Tunisia, and are selected based on on the unique characteristics of each area: soil, sun and humidity. This is how we obtain vegetables of the finest quality, perfect for our recipes.
WORK THAT FOLLOWS THE RHYTHM OF NATURE Making products from fresh is no simple matter. It means planning, waiting patiently, respecting nature. There’s a season for each vegetable, and we wait for just the right moment. The window for harvests is narrow, and unpredictable. But that’s the beauty of it: letting nature and the soil take us by the hand.

Fresh vegetables, selected with care and seasoned with nothing more than oil, vinegar and salt: that’s it. Just respect for nature and for the customers who choose us every day. The quality of our products lies in the certified excellence of our freshly harvested vegetables. From selecting the raw materials through to packaging, the utmost care goes into every step of the process, to guarantee safety, traceability and authenticity. For Citres, quality is an Italian commitment renewed every day.

CITRES QUALITY  HAS NO SECRETS
CERTIFIED QUALITY
Thanks to our Certified Quality Systems and our compliance with the IFS and BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, supported by checks carried out throughout the production process, we are able to guarantee the highest standards of food safety, traceability and wholesome quality. The purpose of these standards is to provide a common benchmark, recognised and accepted by retailers worldwide and by the food industry, ensuring that manufacturers meet the highest requirements for quality, food safety and hygiene.

ANNUAL AUDITS
In 2025, Citres passed the annual audits with flying colours: 98.28% for the IFS certification and an AA+ score for the BRC certification: an achievement that confirms the company’s unwavering commitment to quality.

SAMPLING
In accordance with the in-house Self-Monitoring Plan, quality control takes samples of the raw materials when they enter the factory and throughout every stage of the production processes. Chemical, microbiological and organoleptic testing is then performed on the samples.

HUMANOLOGY
Each lot is checked by specialised operators and by advanced technological devices such as metal detectors and X-ray scanners able to identify any foreign bodies, allowing us to guarantee only safe, tasty, wholesome products.

GOOD HABITS
Part of our commitment to our customers involves fostering a culture of quality: from advice on product storage to maximum transparency for our labels and raising awareness regarding environmental issues, such as how to dispose of packaging.
