Citres packaging has evolved over the years and we believe that sustainability, respect for the environment, and the spread of eco-compatible behaviors can help us all build a better and healthier world.

We wanted to do even more for the environment, so we decided to use Polypropylene Jars.

We have always been interested in sustainability and the idea of doing something that was eco-compatible and also practical for our clients has always been the mission of our company.

This is why in 2008 we started using Polypropylene in the Foodservice market.

But what is Polypropylene?

Polypropylene (abbreviated to PP) is a normally strong and flexible thermoplastic polymer used in a wide range of applications.

This material has begun to spread more and more in the Italian and world plastic industry. This is because there are numerous advantages with this material:

  1. it is a non-toxic material
  2. it is odorless
  3. it is very light
  4. it can be pasteurized (this is why it is used for the food industry)
  5. it is resistant to heat, humidity and it does not absorb water

Polypropylene jars also have several advantages in Foodservice sector compared to glass and cans

  1. The jars are lighter and unbreakable
  2. These jars have an excellent barrier to oxygen and they can ensure a shelf life identical to glass or cans (36 months)
  3. In professional kitchens glass jars can break very easily, leading to glass contamination (this is why leading clients end up choosing polypropylene over glass)
  4. They can be opened and closed several times, so if the product is not completely used, the bottle can be closed and preserved in the fridge (cans cannot be closed once opened)
  5. The material and label are completely recyclable.

Many clients confirmed that operators of the above-mentioned sector (restaurants etc) re-use empty bottles to place spices and other products, giving them a new life.

Since 2008 we have been loyalizing customers, who, satisfied, never go back to glass and cans after trying this material!
